14 Different Mercedes-Benz Models Star in new Die Hard Movie!

These days, we find ourselves asking how much is too much when it comes to product placement spots in movies and on television. When is a movie or television show nothing more than a script steered around beauty shots designed to sell product?

Based on the latest press release from Mercedes-Benz, we’re about to find out. When A Good Day To Die Hard, starring Bruce Willis, hits theaters next month, some 14 different vehicles from Mercedes will take center stage alongside Willis.

The C-Class gets plenty of screen time, along with the G-Class, the Unimog, the Sprinter, and the heavy-duty Zetros truck, meant for off-road applications (and likely unfamiliar to moviegoers in the U.S.). The Mercedes Vito makes an appearance, as do the new E-Class sedan, the G63 AMG, a GL-Class and a Maybach 57.

Of the placement, Mercedes’ head of brand communication for cars, Anders Sundt Jensen, said, “We are very pleased that we were able to support the new film in the exciting "Die Hard" series with a large number of our vehicles. From the C-Class to the Zetros, the Mercedes-Benz model fleet could not be better suited to this action film with its spectacular stunts in the streets of Moscow.”

Mercedes-Benz CLA180 cheats the wind

Mercedes-Benz
claims its new CLA180 BlueEfficiency Edition will be the world's most aerodynamically efficient production road car when the European deliveries begin in June.
The swoopy four-door sedan forms part of an initial five-car lineup of CLA models set for a public debut at the Geneva motor show in March.

With an official drag co-efficient of 0.22, the CLA180 Blue Efficiency Edition undercuts the existing aerodynamic champion, the Mercedes B180 BlueEfficiency with the optional eco technology package, which claims a 0.24 Cd.
By comparison, the Toyota Prius is rated at 0.25 Cd and the BMW 320d EfficientDynamics at 0.26 Cd.
The key to the CLA180 BlueEfficiency Edition's wind-cheating prowess is its relatively small frontal area of 23.8 square feet (2.21 square meters) and a series of subtle refinements not found on other CLA models.
The refinements include a reworked front apron, improved sealing for the headlamp surrounds, altered airflow guidance to the radiator, an adjustable radiator shutter, serrated spoilers to guide air into the wheelhouses, front wheelhouses with integrated spoilers and slits to reduce pressure buildup, new mirror housings, aerodynamically optimized wheels and tires, extensive underbody cladding, a redesigned exhaust and refinements within the rear edge of the roof.
The CLA180 BlueEfficiency Edition is powered by a 1.6-liter four-cylinder direct-injection gasoline engine developed with Renault. With 120 hp and 147 lb-ft of torque, it pushes the car from 0 to 62 mph in 9.9 seconds. A six-speed manual is standard. Top speed is electronically limited to 118 mph.
Combined fuel economy for the CLA180 BlueEfficiency Edition is put at 47.0 mpg on the European test procedure, which typically results in higher fuel economy numbers than the U.S. test. By comparison, the standard CLA180 is rated at 43.6 mpg on the European test.
Meanwhile, Mercedes-Benz is planning to extend its leadership in road car aerodynamics with the opening of a new wind tunnel at its Sindelfingen research and development facility near Stuttgart, Germany.
Set to go into operation by this summer, the new facility includes a rolling road as part of a 62.3-foot-long floor area and is capable of providing measurements at speeds up to 165 mph. The fan used to provide wind resistance measures 29.5 feet in diameter, uses 18 blades, provides a maximum volume of wind of over 7,063 cubic feet and powered by an electrical motor producing 148,991 lb-ft of torque.
Until now, Mercedes-Benz has relied heavily on the University of Stuttgart and its own original wind tunnel located at its nearby Untertuerkheim manufacturing base, which celebrated its 70th anniversary earlier this week, for much of its aerodynamic work. When the new wind tunnel begins operations in June, Mercedes-Benz plans to begin updates at its Untertuerkheim facility.

Revealed: 2014 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG 'Edition 507' - Geneva 2013

Hottest version yet of its C-Class lineup, the 2014 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG "Edition 507" has just broken cover prior to making its formal public debut at the Geneva Auto Show in March. As the name implies, this latest road-rager out of the AMG stables packs a 507-horsepower V8 underhood and also boasts a host of functional go-faster enhancements complemented by unique cabin cosmetics.
Fortified heart of the new Edition 507 is a seriously tweaked version of the naturally aspirated 6.3-liter V8 found in the base C63 AMG. Topped with a titanium-gray painted variable intake manifold, it gains a new engine control system along with forged pistons from the SLS AMG, revamped connecting rods and a lighter crankshaft. Those internal revamps shed 6.6 pounds of rotational mass, which permits quicker response to throttle inputs. Collectively, the upgrades raise pony count from 451 to 507 and move peak torque up from 443 to 450 lb.-ft.
Backed by a paddle-shiftable AMG Speedshift  MCT 7-speed automatic, both Coupe and Sedan versions of the Edition 507 can streak from 0-60 mph in 4.1 seconds, making them 0.3 tick quicker than a standard C63 AMG and giving each a 0.2 second advantage on models fitted with the 481-horsepower AMG Development Package. Top speed also pops from 155 mph to 174 mph. While the suspension carries over unchanged, the new C63 AMG Edition 507 does come with an even more capable AMG performance braking system. Vented and perforated all around, these super-stoppers use lighter and more robust compound-construction rotors up front and feature red-painted calipers. For the ultimate enthusiast, the "Edition 507" also will be available with an AMG locking rear differential.
Visually, the C63 AMG Edition 507 boasts a hood with dual air extractors culled from the C63 AMG Coupe Black Series and features gloss-black accenting on its decklid spoiler lip, exterior mirror housings and grille/daytime running light surrounds set off with a matte-graphite grey AMG sport-stripe applique above the rocker panels. New AMG forged light-alloy wheels in high-sheen titanium gray or matte-black are wrapped in sticky 235/35 tires up front and 255/30 rubber in the rear. In addition to four standard C63 AMG colors, the Edition 507 also will be available in an exclusive, designo magno platinum-matte finish.
The cabin of the Edition 507 gets a similar kind of recasting with three different designo interior trim choices in leather/Dinamica or full leather set off with an flat-bottom AMG Performance steering wheel, unique red-accented AMG instrument cluster, high-gloss piano black elements and an  Edition 507 badge on dash. Options include AMG Performance Media and special carbon-fiber/piano black trims.
The 2014 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Edition 507 will arrive in the U.S. this summer.
