2014 CLA45 AMG Premiere - All-New CLA 4-Door Coupe

The AMG engineers held nothing back as they set to work on the all-new CLA. Since it was already a tenacious, technological powerhouse, the engineers worked hard to turn it into an all-wheel drive rocket and stood in awe as it became the all-new CLA45 AMG. Powered by a hand-built turbocharged four-cylinder pumping out 355-hp and 332 lb-ft of torque, the CLA45 is good for a 4.5 second 0-60 mph sprint and all the sound and fury that AMG is famous for. 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Overwhelms With Innovation

It’s hard to pick a starting point with the all-new 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class.
This full-size luxury sedan, which hits showrooms in September, is absolutely bristling with technology: 3D cameras, radar, night vision, LED headlights and taillights that adjust their brightness automatically.
And that barely scratches the surface. The interior is loaded with impressive features too!
But after seeing the new Mercedes flagship unveiled on a stage at the Airbus factory in Hamburg, Germany, and plowing through a 104-page press release, here is the key takeaway: The 2014 S-Class brings us one step closer to automated driving. It has cameras that act as eyes and radar sensors that act as ears, for a 360-degree view of the road.

Much of the technology is standard, and although it seems out of reach for the masses now, it will trickle down to every vehicle, eventually. It knows when cars are approaching too quickly in adjacent lanes and can warn the driver. It knows when a rear-end collision is imminent and can hit the brakes and activate hazard lights to mitigate injury. It can drive itself in gridlock. It can steer out of danger if the driver is too drowsy to stay in the lane.
The rear-wheel-drive S550, with a 455-horsepower V8, goes on sale in September, followed by an all-wheel-drive version and a high-performance S63 AMG model in November. Next year, a plug-in hybrid and two variants with a V12 engine will debut as 2015 models.
The new S-Class design is drawing mixed reviews here in Hamburg. Some love the restrained styling and long, low proportions. Others bemoan the ornate LED headlights and front grille that is twice as large as before.
Whatever camp people choose as far as looks go, there is no arguing that the 2014 Mercedes S-Class is innovative. And that is what the S-Class always has been. (Notable new technology it has debuted in the past includes antilock brakes in 1978 and airbags in 1981.)

We love receiving feedback from our guests and this recent review is no less appreciated!

"Mike Bywater worked very hard to secure the model we were interested in. When the car was delivered and we were to complete the purchase, we were unexpectedly called out of town for 2 weeks. Upon our return, the purchase proceeded as if we had never left..." -ford12

Sir Stirling Moss on the 1955 Mille Miglia -- Mercedes-Benz

The Mille Miglia had always been a race that favored Italian drivers. After all, it was a 1000-mile dash through their homeland, giving them home field advantage. But Stirling Moss was no local—he was an Englishman sent to win the Mille Miglia in a German car. And win he did, through a potent mix of determination, an inventive navigator, a fast car and sheer talent. See for yourself by taking a look at the video and listen to Stirling recount his tale and the road that took him to victory.

Mercedes-Benz CEO Steve Cannon Races Mille Miglia in 300 SL

Some called the original "the world's greatest road race" and they certainly weren't far off. The Mille Miglia was a test of both man and machine. Our very own CEO Steve Cannon is taking on the Mille Miglia Storica this year in the iconic 1955 300 SL.

The original race was a test of both man and machine. Could manufacturers build a racecar capable of withstanding 1000 miles of often-treacherous Italian public roads? For that matter, could any driver handle those conditions? In 1955, Mercedes-Benz answered both with a resounding yes. Behind the wheel of the lighting quick 300 SLR, Sir Stirling Moss smashed the previous lap time, covering 1000 miles in just over 10 hours, a record that stands to this day.

LED Zeppelin: The 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-class's Radical Lighting Scheme

The new Mercedes S-class due this fall turns the page on more than a century of incandescent lamps in cars. Totally rid of hot filaments, the sixth-generation S-class sedan will instead be fitted with 490 LEDs filling all lighting, signaling, and interior-illumination roles.
The auto industry is shifting to light-emitting diodes because their expected life is three times that of the average car. They also improve mileage by consuming a fraction of the energy required by conventional headlamps. At the rear, their quicker response adds 15 feet at 75 mph to the warning distance provided to cars behind. Unlike high-intensity discharge (HID, or xenon) lamps, LEDs contain no mercury, so they’re also environmentally benign.
Essentially specks of doped silicon on a circuit board, LEDs are frugal because they convert electricity to light with minimal waste heat. Since LED-based headlamps can be half the size of conventional lamps, designers now use this technology to redefine the faces of their cars, with added functions bound only by their imaginations. For example, the European S-class keeps its high-beams lit most of the time, using motorized masks to block the part of the beam that would dazzle oncoming traffic or cars to the side. The computer-controlled masks also eliminate glare from reflective signs. To avoid blinding drivers at the rear in heavy traffic, the S-class’s brake- and taillamps are lit at varying intensities.
Unfortunately, some of these functions leap beyond our current federal lighting standards, so U.S. models will not enjoy all of the LED’s advantages. We hope government regulators will see the light and enable carmakers to realize the LED’s full potential.
