Keep the fear factor out of your wallet this Halloween!

Having fun during holiday seasons throughout the year is a must for many. Keeping the good times within a budget is a little something like magic. This year, we’re casting a spell on our Halloween costume ideas to keep them low-cost, easy to make and unique! Take a look below at some of the ideas our seasoned DIY-ers have come up with. Remember, we’re two weeks away from Fall’s favorite spookfest. Don’t be left in the dark!

For a quick go to, try these out:
Cowboy – All you need are jeans, a flannel or Western shirt, a vest, cowboy boots and a cowboy hat. Add a bandana and maybe a toy gun or a sheriff's badge. If you don’t own these extra items, no worries! You can usually find them easily enough at a dollar or convenient store for cheap.

Butterfly – Have black sweats, yoga pants, or leggings? What about black shoes? Put ‘em on! Once you do, cut poster board into wings and paint them any color. Punch two holes around the edges of each of the wings, then thread and tie black ribbon through them to attach the wings around your waist. Attach pipe cleaners and pom-poms to a plastic headband (found at the dollar store). Don’t forget to add glitter to the wings, glitter makeup, or sparkly body lotion for an ethereal effect.

If you’re a jokester, try this out for a costume pun:

Cereal Killer
- Cut a slit in empty cereal boxes — either full-size or individual packs. Glue plastic knives into the holes. Drip red paint down from the knife hole in the box. Attach the cereal boxes to a T-shirt or sweatshirt.

Short on supplies? No worries! Check out these fantastic options – all you need is a cardboard box!

Robot
- Paint the box silver, glue on a few extras (old buttons, knobs, or spare electronics odds and ends), paint a matching, smaller box and cut eye holes, then use the second box as a head. Grab silver tights or leggings and practice your robot voice and doing The Robot!

Christmas Present
- Wrap the box in Christmas paper, then stick a large bow on your head. Simple!

Make this year’s Halloween fun and affordable. We hope you have a great time!
